MSU-IIT Campus Ambassador Program

The MSU-IIT Campus Ambassador Program is a voluntary extra –curricular program open to students officially enrolled in MSU-IIT. The MSU-IIT Campus Ambassadors is a service organization comprised of elite students who are selected on the basis of leadership, scholarship, volunteerism, and the desire to promote MSU-IIT as a leading university in Mindanao. Moreover, they uphold the Institute’s Vision, Mission, and its Core Values (Commitment, Integrity, Teamwork, Excellence, Accountability) by personal example and by serving in an official capacity as representatives of the Institute, enhancing their leadership and communication skills, and professional development through active participation in Institute events.

MSU-IIT Campus Ambassador Qualifications

  • Must be 18-20 years old
  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • With a height of at least 5’2”
  • Has pleasing personality and of good moral character
  • Articulate in English, Cebuano, and Filipino
  • Has ability to speak a foreign language (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, French, Spanish, German, Arabic, etc. increases one’s chances to be chosen as Campus Ambassador)
  • Willing to undergo training and be on call to serve as host or hostess when the Institute has guests (local or foreign)
  • Has a working knowledge on the èAVSystem and MSU-IIT histories, and the MSU-IIT Organization and Administrative Officials
  • Has sincere desire to voluntarily represent and serve MSU-IIT as a Student Ambassador

Duration

Campus Ambassadors are appointed for two years, and may re-apply when their terms end. The Campus Ambassador serves the Institute from August – May and enjoy privileges as approved by the KASAMA and the Department of Student Affairs.

Campus Ambassador Contract

To be recognized as a Campus Ambassador, students are expected to sign an Ambassador Contract which commits them to the following responsibilities. Students who fail to meet the requirements of the program may have their contracts terminated.

Campus Ambassador Responsibilities

  • Attends ambassador trainings and meetings
  • Serves as host or hostess during Institute events
  • Must represent MSU-IIT with professionalism at all times
  • Must have the prescribed two sets of uniform and Filipiniana or ethnic attire
  • Work at mandatory events which include: Charter Day, Commencement Exercises, Palakasan, major KASAMA activities such as the Search for Mr. & Ms. IIT, and other Cultural Activities
  • Ushers guests of the Institute in giving tours around the IIT campus

Time Commitments of Campus Ambassadors

Campus Ambassadors are not expected to miss any classes or examination periods. Compulsory trainings for them shall be conducted outside of class time. For Institute activities that fall on weekends, they are expected to attend these as directed by the organizer, OPI.

Selection and Training

Following campus ambassador program application, eligible students will attend a selection process which begins with a preliminary interview on October 26, 2015 at the Office of Publication and Information. Students who pass the preliminary interviews will be called for a final interview before a panel of judges on Monday, November 12, 2015, 2:00 pm at the Institute Boardroom.

Students who are selected to be MSU-IIT Campus Ambassadors will undergo trainings in interpersonal communication, public relations, branding, and leadership skills which will enhance the campus ambassadors’ interactions with Institute and èAVofficials, faculty, staff, local and foreign guests, as well as with students.

Criteria for Selection

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Poised (comfortable in large groups, ability to work well with others)
  • Has sincere desire to serve
  • Pleasing personality (enthusiastic, responsible, punctual)
