EVENING SOCIALS: "IIT Got Talent"

Event: Evening Socials, dubbed as IIT Got Talent
Details: July 12, 2011 at 4:00-10:00PM @ the IIT Gymnasium
Major Concepts:
- Each Cluster(1) adopts a theme(2) which shall be depicted or manifested clearly in their respective Cluster ID(3), attire (4), table arrangement(5) and Got Talent presentation(6). The event will be highlighted by the presentations from the different clusters showcasing their talents in dancing and singing.
- In-between surprises shall include Line Dance with a Twist which will showcase the Cluster ID (in a form of a dance step (of a chosen music) and the 43 Treasures (surprises)
- Major prizes and awards will be given to different clusters based on the criteria identified by the committee.
- Welcome drinks and pika-pika will serve as come-on to ensure good attendance from all employees
Themes:
- CASS – twilight CBAA - hawaiian
- CON – gods & goddesses SET – 90’s hiphop
- COE – futuristic CED-IDS – neo-ethnic
- CSM – mutants & proud SCS – western cowboy
- Cluster 1 (OVCAF) – 70’s shindig Cluster 2 (OC/OVCPD) - sultanate
- Cluster 3 – (OVCAA) oriental Cluster 4 – (OVCRE) pista ng nayon
MECHANICS for the Best in Theme:
- Each cluster is given a theme to follow.
- Members of each cluster are encouraged to wear costumes fitting for their theme.
- Tables of each cluster should also be decorated according to theme. It is also encouraged that food and drinks should also be based on the theme.
- For those who are interested to receive major major awards, their clusters should be registered an hour BEFORE the start of the program, that’s 3PM.
- There will be judging an hour AFTER the start of the program (table decoration and members with costumes).
- The group who gets the “Best in Theme” award is the group who is able to depict/personify the theme, from its members to its table decoration, to its food and the Got Talent entry. (3 awards : 1st, 2nd & 3rd)
- Other awards are the following :
- Best in Costume – for the group with the most number of people who are wearing the MOST ATTRACTIVE costumes based on the assigned theme. (3 awards : 1st, 2nd & 3rd)
- Best in Table Decoration – for the group that has epitomized the theme from their table decoration to their food. (3 awards : 1st, 2nd & 3rd)
- Most Colorful – for the group that has worn colourful costumes and decorated their table with varied colors but pleasing to the eyes.
- Most Lively – for the group that is always full of life and energy.
- Most Cooperative – group with the most participation in activities.
- Most Behaved – group with the most number of members that remained major major “formal.”
- Most Punctual cluster – group with the most number of members that arrived early.
- Well-participated cluster – group with the most number of participants who remained after dinner.
- Etc.
Mechanics for the Line Dance with a Twist:
- Each cluster shall prepare some dance step based on the assigned music as follows:
- 3 songs, one song per 4 clusters; I will Survive, Fame, Proud Mary
- I will survive : CED-IDS, SCS, OC/OVCPD, COE
- Fame : OVCAF, CON, OVCAA, SET
- Proud Mary : CASS, CSM, OVCRE, CBAA
- Then when called by the emcee (at any time when the music is played), the cluster participants shall move to the center of the gymnasium and present their coordinated dance steps which shall be followed by everyone present.
Mechanics for the IIT GOT Talent:
1. Each cluster participating shall be composed of not less than 10 members performing on stage at IIT gymnasium.
2. The number shall be in a form of dance or song & dance which depicts or harmonizes with the cluster theme.
3. The cluster shall prepare a CD or their live band for the accompaniment.
4. Performance shall be within 4-8 minutes only.
5. Each cluster shall register an hour before the program proper and a member shall determine order of presentation through draw lots.

* Opening Number: by Top Admin, Chairs and Co-Chairs of the Steering Committee
1. This shall be a rendition of the following songs: Let it Be Me, Dream, Devoted to You, Happy Together.
2. Performance shall be in coordination with Prof. Melissa Casino and company. Time of practice shall be determined by the group or Prof. Casino’s availability.
Rampahan:
1. Each cluster shall choose two (male and female) best in attire representatives during the evening socials to join the Rampahan, an impromptu fashion show.
2. Details of the rampahan shall be coordinated by Prof. Sasha Anne Valdez and Prof. Mark Tristan Quimque.
