Celebrating the National Arts Month in IIT

The month of February is significant to both the KASAMA and the arts and culture sector of the Institute as we commemorate the National Arts Month (NAM) and the KASAMA Anniversary. The Cultural Development Office (CDO) and the KASAMA have agreed to collaborate on some of the activities lined up in celebration of the National Arts Month, an annual undertaking of the entire nation.

The Institute will have a variety of cultural experiences given the program of activities that has been lined up for NAM:

Featured at the UNESCO – ITI Asia – Pacific Bureau Drama Festival, Taipei 2012 and at the 2013 Taboan National Literature Festival

February 5, 8AM – 6PM
Venue: MSU-IIT Mini-Theatre

Film Showing “Filming the Frontiers”, Cinema Rehiyon 6 in cooperation with Xavier Culture and Arts Center, Xavier science Foundation and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in cooperation with the IIT Cultural Development Office and the English Department. This is a free and open admissions to the students.

“Songs and Poetry: Love Interlude”
Everyone- the students, faculty and staff need to have a break from the demands of our obligations as workers and scholars. Valentine’s Day will be more meaningful with our loved ones in an evening of love songs and poems read and performed to us by the Chosen Few (writers and readers and musicians of IIT) while we drink our favorite coffee or beverages and some “pica-pica” (for sale) in a romantic ambiance… open to the IIT community.

“Echoes Concert: Mother Earth, My Home”
A free concert for the students, particularly the freshmen. This concert pursues the environmental advocacy of the Echoes. Songs are chosen according to its relevance to nature and care for the environment. As part of the campaign for the environmental and climate change awareness, video clips will be presented throughout the concert.

February 20 – 21, 5PM – 7PM
Venue: MSU-IIT GYM

“Dalawang Gabi ng Kantahan at Yugyugan”
An open jamming session by selected student bands and music groups, performing exclusively OPM music. Participants will have to signify their interest by registering with KASAMA or CDO and shall be screened for qualification. Deadline for Registration is on February 10 and screening will be from February 11 to 13. Open to the public.

Installation Arts Competition

An open competition on creating artistically from waste materials of any kind using the principle of the 3R: REDUCE, REUSE, and RECYCLE. The inception of this advocacy project was only last year, launching it during the 2013 NAM celebration. This competition starts now and the entries must be completed for inspection and display to the public on February 21, 2014.

Prizes:
First Placer – Php 3,000 and trophy
2nd Placer – Php 2,000 and trophy
3rd Placer – Php1,000 and trophy

Celebrating the             National Arts Month in IIT

February 27  to March 1, 2014
Venue: MSU-IIT Mini-theatre

A workshop on videography entitled “VideoMaker Workshop” is also scheduled. This is an opportunity for enthusiasts and budding film makers to learn from the expert the art of video lighting and some camera techniques. Our resource person is considered an icon in the field of Theatre Operations and Technical direction (Lighting, Stage and Camera), Mr. Antonio Esteban. This workshop is being made possible with the support of the NCCA.
Registration Fee:
Php 1,500.00 early bird rate, not later than Feb. 5
Php 2,000.00 regular rate
