Chancellor’s Exit Report

Introduction

More than a decade has passed since I became the Institute’s Chancellor in 2000 and surely, MSU-IIT has changed in many aspects. The best way to evaluate the changes in the Institute is to assess developments in areas which are closely associated to vision attainment. Assessment is therefore conducted in the components of the Institute’s Vision Pillars which were crafted in the early 2000s to be the basis for classifying the strategic programs that were formulated to move MSU-IIT toward the attainment of its Vision. That time, the term “Vision Pillars” was chosen to represent the major elements (or columns) that will serve as the solid supports of a vision of institutional excellence.

Undeniably, an academic institution like MSU-IIT has to focus its vision attainment in the mandated four functional areas where it is expected to perform well, namely:instruction,research,extension, and production. The first three are the traditional performance areas; the last one is a recently added function. In addition, in this era of Information Technology, ISO certifications, and internationalization of education, excellence in ICT and quality management will make the organization perform even better. Hence, the chosen four vision pillars that support the attainment of MSU-IIT’s aim to be a world-class institution of higher learning are the following:

This report of accomplishments for the period starting in 2000 until the 1st quarter of 2011 is presented by summarizing the changes along the different Key Results Areas (KRAs) under the four vision pillars. These KRAs are as follows:
