Bamboo Charcoal is a two-day intensive, hands-on, practice-dominated workshop to promote the use of bamboo as a material for low-cost charcoal production, to develop skills in carbonization process (charcoal making) and provide alternative livelihoods for individuals and communities. Bamboo charcoal production is highly suitable for small scale individual producers. Charcoal made from bamboo finds ready uses and markets. Bamboo makes excellent charcoal and has a great potential to meet energy needs for cooking and heating, industrial fuel and as activated carbon. Bamboo is abundantly and commonly available. It is fast growing and is considered as a rapidly renewable resource. |
