Iligan City, Philippines – The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office (KTTO) hosted a study tour visit by delegates from Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences & Technology (ZSCMST), Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU), Josefina H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), and the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) on February 5, 2024.
Prof. Vannie Joy Resabal (KTTO director), Prof. Reynaldo Vequizo (acting head of KTTO’s Innovation & Technology Support Office), and Prof. Stephen Fajardo (head of KTTO’s Technology Transfer & Enterprise Unit) led discussions on topics such as the University’s intellectual property (IP) policy and KTTO’s experiences in protecting, managing, and commercializing the University’s IP assets.
WMSU, ZSCMST, JRMSU, JHCSC, and PRRI are part of the Western Mindanao implementation of the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) program of the Department of Science & Technology (DOST) – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research & Development (PCAARD). Prof. Fajardo leads the University’s participation in RAISE Northern Mindanao.
Programs such as RAISE provide opportunities for KTTO to help in #InfluencingTheFuture of IP protection, management, and commercialization in Mindanao.
