With the numerous extension project collaborations made by MSU-IIT together with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Iligan, the University was given a special award during the 33rd Anniversary of the BJMP- Region 10 on July 25, 2024.

It is worth noting that MSU-IIT’s projects with BJMP for this year were partnerships initiated by various colleges such as the “Mga Nars kaabay sa Kalusugan ug Kaluwasan Project para sa PDL (Persons Deprived of Liberty) BJMP-Iligan City” and “Health and Wellness Behind Bars Lecture Discussion” of the College of Health and Sciences; “Personal Financial Management & Savings for Inmates in BJMP” of the College of Economics, Business and Accountancy; and the “Tech Behind Bars - a digital reformation for inmates” of the College of Computer Studies.

The ceremony took place at the Xavier Sports & Country Club on Masterson Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City, with JDIR Ruel S. Rivera, DSC, Chief of BJMP, serving as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. Dr. Rosario L. Reserva, Director of the WE CARE Office, and Dr. Angeline P. Dinoro, Asst. Dean of the College of Education attended the event. Dr. Reserva received the special award on behalf of Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan.

The celebration, themed “Makatao at Maka-Diyos na Serbisyong Publiko, Tungo sa Maunlad, Maayos at Progresibong Pagbabago,” highlighted the commitment to public service that is both compassionate and faith-driven.

The anniversary celebration also recognized the dedication of BJMP-10’s officers, units, partner agencies, and local government units (LGUs). Additionally, ten distinguished individuals from the region were acknowledged for their instrumental roles in promoting humane treatment and developmental opportunities for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

This event underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring that rehabilitation and reintegration programs are not only effective but also rooted in compassion and respect for human dignity. The recognition of these partnerships reflects a shared commitment to fostering positive change within the community and enhancing the quality of public service.
