Atty. Yaslani B. Bantuas, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, was selected as one of the scholars in the 17th Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) University Leadership  (UNILEAD) and Management Training Programme.

Out of more than a hundred program applicants from different parts of the world, Bantuas is the only Filipino scholar who has been accepted to participate in this year’s program.

As a UNILEAD Scholar, Bantuas undergoes training through two on-site contact phases at the University of Oldenburg, and trainer-guided online phases from February to September. The training is designed to be in a didactical approach which requires participants to learn and to teach. The courses will be taught by experts in education management and continuing education.

“Getting accepted in the program is undoubtedly a pinnacle achievement. It not only recognizes my efforts but also opens doors to further my studies in an international arena, which is immensely important in my field of work at MSU-IIT,” Bantuas said.

“The UNILEAD training course offers a unique platform for learning, sharing experiences, and fostering international networks. The interactive sessions will equip me with practical solutions to implement my project, enhancing financial transparency, optimizing resource utilization, and promoting sustainable financial growth,” he added.

During his training, Bantuas will be working on actualizing his proposal entitled Enhancing Financial Resiliency at Mindanao State University- Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). His project aims to provide financial resiliency in MSU-IIT to weather economic uncertainties. He is interested in enhancing the institution’s financial future, maintaining quality support on academic programs and research opportunities for students, and investing in student support services, scholarships, and facilities.

“The concept of financial resiliency has become more critical than ever, given the ever-evolving challenges that educational institutions face in a rapidly changing global landscape. My motivation to apply for the UNILEAD training course stems from the belief that equipping myself with cutting-edge strategies and insights will empower me to effectively address these challenges,” Bantuas said.

According to the Vice Chancellor, he is responsible for steering MSU-IIT towards sustainable financial practices. Participating in UNILEAD 2024 will provide him with a comprehensive understanding of innovative management techniques, international best practices, and collaboration strategies.

Established in 2008, UNILEAD is part of the DIES programme which is jointly coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) since 2001. The program is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

UNILEAD focuses on integrating key subjects like Project Management, Strategic Management, Academic Leadership, and Human Resource Management. It also encompasses additional themes such as Risk Management, Team and Key Competences, and Resilience.
