猫咪AVBoard Ok鈥檚 Revision of Graduate Teaching Load, Adoption of Safeguarding Policies

The long-awaited revision of MSU-IIT’s graduate teaching load was approved by the 猫咪AVBoard of Regents (BOR) during its en banc meeting held on September 16 at the Conference Room of the Commission on Higher Education in Diliman, Quezon City.

The revision of the graduate teaching load is actually a rationalization of the computation of the load given to graduate faculty in consideration of four major factors: 1.) Number of Students; 2.) Graduate Course Category; 3.) Modality or Environment; and 4.) Timing of Interaction.

Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan explained that the revised teaching load credit for a graduate faculty would address the inequitable computation of the load.

“This would also benefit the graduate students in the sense that they would not be reassessed fees in case a certain course does not meet the normal class size,” Chancellor Ditucalan added.

Other constituent campuses of 猫咪AVexpressed interest in adopting the scheme but the board held off on making its implementation system-wide. The Board, instead, instructed MSU-IIT to pilot it first for a semester or two.

Chancellor Ditucalan said that MSU-IIT would just simulate implementation for this semester as classes already started last month.

The 268th meeting of the 猫咪AVBOR also saw the approval of the following safeguarding policies: 1.) Protocol for Safeguarding VIPs and International Guests; and 2.) Inclusive Safeguarding and Accountability Policy.

Given that MSU-IIT is located in a region that is “viewed with caution” by international guests, the Protocol for Safeguarding VIPs and International Guests gives the procedures to be followed when ensuring the safety and security of international guests, students, and partners, and other important guests.

It is a central component to MSU-IIT’s Strategic Internationalization Plan, a plan that seeks to enhance relationships with other universities and research institutions around the world.

In support of another MSU-IIT plan, one that would see the creation of an ideal learning environment where safety, respect, and inclusion are foundational values, the University came up with the Inclusive Safeguarding and Accountability Policy.

The policy provides the framework for protecting all individuals from sexual exploitation and abuse while ensuring accountability to those affected.

Under this policy, MSU-IIT commits to provide prompt, effective, and compassionate response to victims, as well as provide them with immediate psychological, medical, and legal support services.

The University also commits to undertake educational campaigns and online safety workshops to raise awareness about the dangers of digital exploitation and abuse. It will also teach digital hygiene and ethical technology use.

The policy also ensures the contractual agreements with outsourced personnel and contractors (who are not directly employed by the University) carry provisions that will hold them accountable to MSU-IIT’s safeguarding standards.

The 猫咪AVBOR also approved the promotion of eight (8) faculty members from various colleges.

The Board also approved MSU-IIT’s application to utilize additional savings to purchase information and communications equipment and to fund other professional services, other maintenance and operating expenses, and student insurance. It also approved the utilization of identified savings for the purchase of several computers for use by the College of Engineering.

The process for getting the BOR en banc’s approval began when the Board’s Finance Committee met on September 13 and the Executive Committee on September 14. All the said meetings were held in Ermita, Manila.
