by OVCIA | Mar 12 2024

The Office of the Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs (OVCIA) of the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), in collaboration with the Office of International Relations (OIR) of the Central Mindanao University (CMU) in Bukidnon, orchestrated a two-day workshop with the primary objective of formulating a Strategic Internationalization Plan (SIP) for CMU. The workshop, held at the University Center for Gender and Development Hall (UC-GAD), on March 7-8, 2024, received a gracious welcome from CMU's President, Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jose A. Valmorida, and OIR Director, Dr. Raquelyn J. Dadang.

This strategic initiative was prompted by the directive of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to develop a comprehensive SIP. MSU-IIT, acknowledged by CHED as a delivering HEI, assumed a leadership role in capacitating HEIs in Mindanao, underscoring its dedication to internationalization and academic excellence.

The workshop featured distinguished resource speakers, Dr. Joey Genevieve T. Martinez (Vice Chancellor for International Affairs) and Dr. Mark Anthony J. Torres (Dean, School of Interdisciplinary Studies), supported by Mr. James M. Laranjo as facilitator. Their active involvement aimed to ensure the effective formulation of CMU's SIP. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of CMU's Vice Presidents, College Deans, Directors, International Relations College Coordinators (IRCC), faculty, and staff.

The newly crafted SIP is poised for approval by CMU’s Board of Regents, following recommendations from the Administration Council and the Council of Deans. It will then be submitted to CHED.

This endeavor marks a noteworthy stride towards enhancing internationalization strategies with a global perspective in the academic landscape of Mindanao and aligning seamlessly with MSU-IIT's dedication to influencing the future.
