In a display of community and vibrance, the College of Education (CED) commenced the celebration of its 41st Founding Anniversary with a parade and an opening ceremony on January 20, 2025, at the University Gymnasium, gathering together the CEDtizens of MSU-IIT.
The crowd was welcomed by the College Dean, Dr. Monera Salic-Hairulla, who gave the opening remarks and talked about the long and rich history of the college. To ignite the spirit of honor and inspire future educators, the dean shared a presentation of CED’s milestones in 2024. Beginning in 1985, CED has proven to be a bastion of excellent students, as reflected in their topnotchers in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).
The program was graced by the University Chancellor, Alizedney M. Ditucalan, who served as the keynote speaker for the gathering. Calling this year’s celebration a “landmark anniversary,” the Chancellor shared that the college has solidified its reputation in teacher education, marking them as trailblazers.
“There is no profession in the world that can substitute the role that the College of Education produces,” the Chancellor said, emphasizing the significance of the college, reminding the students of the weight of the roles they will soon carry in their professional journey.
“It is the graduate of the College of Education that creates a pathway for lawyers, doctors, engineers, scientists, and all others,” he added.
Following the inspiring talk of the Chancellor, the MSU-IIT-CED Alumni Association was introduced. The association aims to strengthen the bond among graduates and enhance support for the college's endeavors.
A symbolic time capsule burying ceremony was also held at the Hinaplanon campus which was broadcast live at the gymnasium. The capsule contains heartfelt messages from the CED community, encapsulating their hopes, dreams, and aspirations for the college to be unearthed in the future.
The program ended with a ceremonial sounding of the gong led by the Chancellor and the College Dean to formally mark the opening of the celebration.
