Mr. Alsadjaik Sabdul, a graduating BS Philosophy student from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), represented èßäAV (MSU-IIT) and the Philippines at the Leadership Forum 2025, which was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from January 6 to 9, 2025.
The forum was organized by the EduTourism for Unity, a UK-based organization that aims to unite young leaders worldwide. The four-day forum focused on developing leadership skills, advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and promoting global peace, diversity, and unity. This event brought together representatives from various countries, contributing to impactful discussions on ethical and inclusive leadership, innovations, sustainability, and global collaboration for a brighter future.
The session also provided important insights regarding conflict resolution strategies, green finance, and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence or AI in governance. Sabdul's active participation enabled him to engage with other leaders and experts and gain a deeper understanding of the topics. Further, he explored how those insights can effectively apply to local and regional factors. Sabdul’s experience was not only a milestone in his personal development but also an inspiration to bring a life-changing impact to MSU-IIT and beyond.
“As a graduating student, I was inspired by their motivation to pursue and learn more. Some speakers in the forum had their PhD in their 30s, despite the fact that they had been through a lot of life challenges. If they can do it despite what they’ve been through, maybe I can do it as well,” Sabdul said.
Sabdul was also the recipient of the Armed Forces of the Philippines ROTC Male Cadet of 2023, a recognition that further exemplifies his leadership qualities and dedication to serving the country, which contributed to his successful participation in the leadership forum.
In addition to the leadership training, the Muslim participants including Sabdul, had a unique opportunity of performing Umrah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, a significant spiritual journey for Muslims. Moreover, participants will also be eligible for a week-long fellowship at the UK head office, with an opportunity to represent their country and community at the United Nations.
