MSU-IIT ranks higher in 2025 Webometrics list

Placing higher than last year, MSU-IIT continues to make its mark in the global rankings, securing the 3,317th spot, climbing from its 3,387th spot in 2024 in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.

MSU-IIT ranked 8th among the top 10 Philippine universities in the Webometrics rankings. Leading the list is UP Diliman in first place, followed by De La Salle University in second, the UP System in third, Ateneo de Manila University in fourth, University of Santo Tomas in fifth, Mapua University in sixth, and UP Manila in seventh place.

MSU-IIT also emerged as the top-ranking èßäAVcampus. Four other èßäAVcampuses made the rankings: MSU-Marawi, at 4,180th, MSU-Naawan, at 7,826th, MSU-General Santos, at 9,040th, and MSU-Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (TCTO), at 14,799th. The èßäAVSystem as a whole secured the 20,312th spot.

Published by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council, Spain’s largest public research body, the rankings track HEIs around the globe based on the following: (1) Visibility (50%) which measures the impact of an institute’s website and its linkage to external networks; (2) Transparency Openness (10%), based on the number of citations from Top 310 authors; and lastly, (3) Excellence (40%), determined by the number of papers among the Top 105 most cited in each one of all the 27 disciplines. 

MSU-IIT continues to solidify its reputation as a research powerhouse, as evidenced by the stellar citation count of 27,698 from the Google Scholar profiles of its top researchers. In the Transparent Ranking of Universities, MSU-IIT ranks 6th among 42 universities in the country.
