Overview

In the face of new challenges and opportunities for higher education research to contribute towards advancing the country’s development and global competitiveness, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) identified 猫咪AV– Iligan Institute of Technology (IIT) to be one of the nine (9) higher education institutions (HEIs) to constitute the Philippine Higher Education Research Network (PHERNet).

The network is aimed at encouraging and facilitating collaborative, interdisciplinary / multisectoral approaches to the generation and dissemination of new knowledge and technologies.

As a PHERNet Center, MSU-IIT will conduct basic and applied, interdisciplinary research aimed at intellectual property generation in its known fields of excellence and on the priority areas identified in the National Higher Education Research Agenda – 2 (NHERA – 2); initiate collaborative research and development (R&D) with foreign counterparts/ regional or area partners and act as major linkage to international programs; participate in innovation cluster (government-industry-academe) collaborative activities; and provide high quality post graduate education and training environments for researchers.

MSU-IIT pursues a paradigm shift to do research in the Philippines. In the innovation-based economy, a discovery has no value until it can benefit the public. Publishing and winning awards for innovations created are not enough. It has to be commercialized or at least add value to society or industry. Discoveries and products cannot reach the public until it has been innovated or commercialized.
