Mission & Objectives

Mission

The CHED PHERNet Center,

• Identify areas of collaboration between and among members and with counterparts within and outside the country;
• Establish a system of collaboration and resource sharing in planning and undertaking HE research;
• Initiate collaborative research projects and exchange programs; and
• Provide forums and venues for exchange /sharing of information, research experiencing, technologies and methods.

General Objectives:

• Implement collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects involving natural sciences, engineering, business administration and social sciences disciplines;
• Train graduate research advisers (budding researchers) of the graduate program in Natural Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration and Social Science;
• Mentor the graduate research advisers (budding researchers) and/or graduate research students in the research process (conceptualization, proposal writing, responsible conduct of research, publication) by their involvement in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects;
• Produce scientific papers / articles worthy of publication in reputable refereed journal or ISI (Institute for Scientific Information) - indexed journals (www.isinet.com) of the research projects; and
• Produce high-value products on materials science, biotechnology and engineering materials for specific applications and/or patent registration.

Strategies:

MSU-IIT adopts the following implementing strategies:

• Carry out R and D that has impact by combining fundamental and applied research;
• Work in cluster / team of multidisciplinary experts to provide solution to problems;
• Learn concepts of entrepreneurship so that innovation is commercially viable;
• Choose technology platforms well for the production of high value products.
