To proactively enhance disaster preparedness and equip students with essential life skills, the National Service Training Program-Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS) launched the first batch of Water Safety Training for all CWTS students. The initiative was led by the Disaster Risk Reduction Cluster with the aim of empowering students with knowledge on how to respond appropriately and effectively during water-related disasters and to cultivate vital skills such as swimming and staying afloat.
The training program, held on October 15, 2023, took place at Dela Mar Resort Timoga and Taytay Resort in Buru-un. These venues provided an ideal environment for the students to learn and practice water safety techniques under the guidance of trained professionals and instructors. Students participated in various water safety activities such as learning different swimming styles and mastering floating techniques. The training sessions were designed to be both educational and interactive, fostering a positive learning environment for all participants and contributing to community safety during emergencies.
The Disaster Risk Reduction Cluster played a pivotal role in organizing and facilitating the training sessions. Their expertise and guidance ensured that the training program met the highest standards of safety and effectiveness. By collaborating with experienced water safety instructors, the cluster provided students with valuable insights and hands-on experience, enabling them to develop confidence in water-related situations.
The success of the first batch of Water Safety Training for CWTS students has paved the way for future initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills and preparedness of students across the nation. The NSTP-CWTS remains committed to empowering students with essential life skills and fostering a culture of safety and resilience within communities.
In a world where water-related disasters are increasingly prevalent, initiatives like the Water Safety Training program are instrumental in shaping a generation that is not only academically proficient but also well-equipped to respond effectively in times of crisis. Through collaborative efforts and proactive measures, the community can look forward to a safer and more resilient future.
