BS Economic students, Jafar S. Zamora and Al-Gafar C. Mauna made significant strides at the Asia World Muslim Summit 2025 (AWMS 2025) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on March 13-15, 2025, securing several awards at the summit and solidifying their place among the top young Muslim leaders in the Asia-Pacific region.
Competing against the other 49 delegates in the Asia Muslim Speak-Up Competition, Zamora placed 1st Runner-Up, while Mauna and his team won in the Asia Muslim Group Project Competition, besting six other teams with their innovative project.
Mauna and Zamora also received additional recognition for their performance at the summit and were awarded with the following:
Organized by the Studec International in collaboration with the University Putra Malaysia – School of Business and Economics and Universitas Indonesia – Center for Strategic Entrepreneurial Leadership, the summit brought together a delegation of 50 Muslim youth leaders across the Asia-Pacific region. Zamora and Mauna were selected out of the 1000 applicants, making them not only a part of the 50 selected delegates but also the sole representatives coming from the Philippines.
The summit served as a platform for young Muslim leaders to engage in discussions on global issues, economic development, and sustainability– anchored on Islamic leadership and teachings. The event also featured keynote speeches, expert-led discussions, leadership workshops, and project presentations, which opened opportunities for the delegates to share their insights, explore their leadership potential, and network with fellow youth leaders and experts.
To further their mission to hone Muslim youth to become better leaders in their communities, the students were also offered an opportunity to become full-time graduate students at a university in Malaysia– a tangible opportunity to elevate their skills.
