MSU-IIT, PA sign MOU on academic and research collaboration

MSU-IIT and the Philippine Army (PA), through its Research and Development Center (RDC), Army Support Command (ASCOM), have agreed to develop projects and activities based on equality and reciprocity to foster cooperation and collaboration.

In the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both institutions on November 22, 2024, both agreed to collaborate on research, exchange academic information and materials, conduct lectures and symposia, organize student internships, continual professional development of technical staff and other activities as mutually agreed.

Attending the MOU signing on campus were Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Pamela F. Resurreccion, representing Chancellor Alizedney Ditucalan; College of Engineering Dean, Dr. Maria Sheila K. Ramos; Dr. Ivyleen B. Arugay, faculty of the Department of Materials and Resources Engineering and Technology (DMRET) and the point person of the collaboration with the RDC, ASCOM, PA; and the DMRET faculty members.

Joining via Google Meet were LTC Rodolfo G. Tubera, Jr., Director of the RDC, ASCOM, and the personnel of the Material Development Division.

During the signing ceremony, Dr. Resurreccion said that MSU-IIT is dedicated to research and development, positioning the university as a leader in driving technological advancements and solutions with real-world applications. "As a university committed to fostering innovation and pushing the boundaries of knowledge, we believe that collaborations like this are an opportunity to align academic excellence with real-world needs," she said. 

“This partnership will focus on a range of critical areas, from technology development to environmental sustainability and logistics innovation," Dr. Resurreccion added. “The potential projects could address both military needs and civilian concerns, contributing to national growth and improving the quality of life across the country.”

Both institutions recognize that the partnership’s benefits extend beyond the military and academia. By joining forces, MSU-IIT and the PA hope to create tools and strategies that can enhance the capabilities of the armed forces while directly impacting the welfare of civilian communities.

This partnership is expected to lead to groundbreaking projects that not only support national defense but also pave the way for future advancements in various fields of research. As both parties embark on this collaboration, their collective efforts aim to strengthen the nation's security, foster innovation, and build a brighter future for all Filipinos.
