The Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) secured its place in the 801-1000 bracket for Physical Sciences in the prestigious 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject, according to results released on January 22, 2025.
Joining MSU-IIT in the same bracket is Mapua University, while Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and University of the Philippines placed in the 1,001+ rank.
The rankings underscore MSU-IIT's status as a leader in the field of Physical Sciences in the Philippines. The category encompasses vital disciplines, including mathematics and statistics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, geology, environmental, earth and marine sciences.
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings is a prestigious and data-driven ranking system, providing a comprehensive assessment of the world’s best universities. In this year’s ranking, it included 1,447 institutions, evaluated based on extensive performance indicators that focused on the following areas:
Remarkably, in 2024, MSU-IIT made its debut in the overall THE World Rankings by placing third among Philippine universities, marking consistent performance and growth.
This recognition acknowledges MSU-IIT’s efforts to provide quality education and conduct high-impact research, which not only benefits the university but the community it serves.
MSU-IIT’s inclusion in the rankings also recognizes the significant contributions of the individuals who continuously strive for excellence in education, community engagement, research, and innovation. Reflecting on the achievement, Chancellor Ditucalan expressed his appreciation via Facebook post, acknowledging the efforts of the university's faculty and students.
“We owe this success to our exceptional faculty and students, who tirelessly contribute to the development of new knowledge,” he said.
As MSU-IIT celebrates this new milestone, it aims to climb higher by strengthening its teaching force, investing more in innovative technologies, and expanding its research opportunities that further strengthen its global presence.
